What to wear

  • Long sleeves and long pants: sturdy material, no shorts. Denim or thicker is ideal.
  • Over-the-ankle boots: sturdy footwear that covers the ankle. No sandals or low sneakers.
  • Full-finger gloves: leather or similar. They protect your hands and improve grip and control.
  • Eye protection: if your provided helmet does not have a face shield, bring shatter-resistant glasses.

The point is simple: cover your skin and protect the parts that hit the ground first. The range is controlled, but real gear is part of learning to ride like a rider.

What WMST provides

You do not need your own motorcycle or helmet. WMST provides training bikes sized for learning and a helmet, which is exactly why a beginner course is the easy way to start. Some riders bring their own DOT helmet if they have one, but it is not required. Check your specific course details when you register.

What to bring

  • Water and a snack, especially for longer range sessions.
  • Sunscreen and a way to handle weather, since the range is outdoors.
  • Your registration confirmation and any paperwork the course asks for.
Dress for the weather and the ground: this is Western Washington. Layers you can shed beat being cold or soaked, and the gear rules still apply rain or shine.
