A school built by a racer, run by teachers, trusted by parents.
WMST has been training Washington drivers and riders for 16 years, through five DOL audit cycles, two pandemics, and a lot of first licenses. This is who we are and how we got here.
Connecting communities to inspire safer roads.
"Teamwork is the fuel that allows the individual to unlock their full potential."
That sentence sits on the wall of every WMST classroom because it's how we work. Our instructors aren't soloists, they share lesson plans, debrief together after every class, and rotate through ride-alongs to keep our pedagogy sharp. Students inherit that culture. By drive six, the teen sitting next to you isn't a competitor; they're the person you're going to text when you finally pass.
WMST began with motorcycles in 2009 and added drivers education a few years later, after parents kept asking whether the same standard could be applied to their teens' first license. The answer turned out to be yes, same culture, different vehicles.
Chris Johnson
Founder · MSF Instructor · former WMRRA racer
Chris began his motorcycling journey a long, long time ago as a young man in England. After taking the CBT (compulsory basic training), and after making a lot of mistakes in his rider's choices, he found himself doing motorcycle track days. That's where he first discovered the value of training, and set upon his journey to become an instructor.
In 2008 Chris became a Washington State certified MSF instructor and went on to become a Washington State motorcycle training contractor. Since then he has authored multiple national training curricula and has been published in multiple traffic safety publications. Chris was an Authorized Heavy Vehicle Driving Assessor for TNT Express and a hazmat-certified operator for the British Armed Forces. As a former BEMSEE and WMRRA Sport Bike Racer, Chris understands the passion for speed, but more importantly the need for training.
He has trained racers and professional riders and drivers, and even Washington State motorcycle officers.

A program with miles on the odometer.
Every metric here is a student. Every student is a license. Every license is somebody's life getting easier.
